Some of you may remember back in June of 2011 when the story first broke. Kevin Connelly did an interview with The Wrap where he discussed his goal after completing Entourage. He spoke about his desire to direct Kevin Ferguson aka Kimbo Slice’s life story.
Connelly told The Wrap, “I’m trying to get the Kimbo Slice story made.” He went on to add, “I have his life rights, we have a script that’s great. It’s out and about, and the powers that be are trying to put the money together.”
Connelly also spoke to them about Kimbo’s shocking rise to celebrity status thanks to use backyard street fights. He said that Kimbo SLice was the first person he had ever met that you could type their name into You Tube and all his videos would popup. Connelly also went on to share a few details regarding the process of putting together the script. After all there is much more to Kimbo’s life style then backyard fights, MMA and now Boxing. Kimbo Slice was a young kid growing up on the tough streets of Miami Florida that faced many difficulties.
“It’s so personal to sit with a writer who you don’t know and tell them your deepest, darkest secrets and your life story, so I think it took him a second to get used to,” Connolly said. “But him and the writer really hit it off, and I couldn’t be happier with the script. I’m ready to go.”
Well to bring you up to date Kimbo Slice’s manager Icey Mike Imber confirmed that they movie is still in the works. During an interview Mike Imber was asked what he’s expectations and hopes were for Kimbo Slice. He replied, “Even before his career is over I believe you’ll be seeing Kimbo in Hollywood more often… He’s already had some successfull roles and some more are in the works… We have recently teamed up with Kevin Connelly and are developing Kimbo’s life story, which we are planning to make into a theatrical release…”
